Roof Repair 2017

The Listed Places of Worship (LPoW) Roof Repair Fund granted All Saints' the funds to make vital repairs to the roof of our beautiful church.

Like many historical buildings, repairs to the fabric are needed from time to time. All Saints' roof has required urgent repair for some years, and a proposal in 2016 to the Listed Places of Worship Roof Repair Fund resulted in a very welcome grant. The grant allowed the repair work to start in March 2017. Information on the timescale and possible impact on the local and church communities was posted on notice boards and communicated to local residents.

The first phase of the work, primarily on the South aisle roof, was completed in June 2017, with the second and last phase begun in September. This second phase, to make repairs to the roof above the chancel and the nave was completed in late November 2017.

To protect our roof, we have installed a roof alarm.

The visually-based alarm installation was carried out with the aid of a grant of £2,500 from Cambridgeshire Historic Churches Trust (CamHTC). The grant was made possible by generous funding from AllChurches Trust Ltd.

CamHTC offers grants and loans to help congregations look after their historic places of worship. Its main source of income is the annual "Ride, Drive and Stride". Each September sponsored cyclists, motorists and walkers visit churches, chapels and colleges throurout Cambridgeshire, sharing the money raised between the Trust and their local church.

Details of the Trust's work can be found at www.camhct.uk
