When someone dies, there’s so much to think about and organise. We understand how difficult this can be, but we can help you to say your final goodbye in a way that really helps.
If someone you know and love has died, a funeral led by the Rector can be held at the Church, in the churchyard, by a graveside, or at the crematorium. The minister will be there to support you every step of the way.
If you choose to have a Church of England funeral, the Rector, Revd. Canon Lynda Davies will visit you to listen to the story of the person you knew, and will go through all the details of the funeral service itself. They will help you make choices about music, readings and what you’d like said about your loved one, and will offer suggestions for special ways to make the service personal.
Immediately after a funeral, you’ll be with your family and friends. But as the days and weeks go by, the church will also be there for you. All Saints can support you in lots of ways, even if the funeral did not take place where you live. Both the clergy and lay ministers (volunteers) can visit you at home to provide support, or meet you for a coffee in the coffee shop to chat about how you’re feeling. Each autumn we hold a service of remembering called ‘Time to Remember’ where those recently bereaved are especially invited to a short service consisting of hymns, prayers and readings. During the service there is a time of remembrance and reflection, during which the names of those we wish to remember will be read out and candles lit in their memory. There is then the opportunity to chat over a cup of tea and a slice of cake.
